Absolute Combat are pleased to announce our return to Edinburgh's, Meadowbank Sports Centre for our 2nd event "The Gathering".

Absolute Combat 2: The Gathering Sponsored by Burger King, will take place on Saturday 28th November 2009. Meadowbank proved to be a great venue for MMA with over 1300 spectators attending the first event "Proving Ground" with not a bad view in the arena.

The Gathering line-up is already stacked and we are pleased to announce that The Ultimate Fighter Season 9 veteran and top british Lightweight Martin Stapleton will face off against a fellow top british Lightweight in Bellator Fighting Championship veteran Greg Loughran.

Bristol based Scotsman Paul Reed (euro no.9). Will take on Balloch's John Cullen in a bout that will determine Scotland's Top Featherweight.

In another highly anticipated domestic bout. Scotland's widley regarded top Middleweight James Mair will drop down in weight to face Scotland's top Welter John Quinn.

Also the exciting Total Combat Lightweight Champion Graham Turner will drop down in weight to featherweight to face tough Irishman and Pride & Glory Champion Gary "The Dumptruck" Morris.

Bantamweight

Paul McVeigh (Dinky Ninja Fight Team, Ireland) 15-5 Vs. Marcelo Costa (Brazil) 4-1

Absolute Combat is pleased to confirm its main Event bout for its inaugural show. European No.1 Paul McVeigh fighting out of Glasgow, Scotland will be facing Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt and European no. 6 Marcelo Costa.

The Glasgow based Irishman hopes to cement his place at the top of the rankings while the dangerous Costa fighting out of Geneva, Switzerland hopes to continue his fast rise to the top and is coming of a sensational KO victory over Swedish star Musse Hasselvall at Superior Challenge II in Stockholm. This fight is highly anticipated throughout the world and has been listed as one of the top ten bouts this spring by MMA portal SHERDOG.

Paul Reed (Olympians MMA Scotland) 9-2 Vs. Fred Fernandez (Team Fernandez, France) 6-8-1

One of Europe's top ranked featherweights, Paul Reed will face off against Frenchman Fred Fernandez. In what is the second instalment of a family feud, Reed hopes to place himself in line for a rematch with Emmanuel Fernandez (Fred's Brother) whom he lost to early in 2008.

Paul Reed himself stated that "Fred is a nice guy but don't get me wrong I'll smash him and then I'll beat Emmanuel in a rematch".

He also went on to tell Edinburgh Evening News: "I can't wait for the event because I have got family up in Edinburgh and it's a chance to fight in front of the Edinburgh crowd - and hopefully knock this guy out as quickly as possible. It's a chance to get some revenge on his brother."
